Woodbridge NJ Real Estate North, West of Perth Amboy Homes

Perth Amboy Real Estate

Perth Amboy investment properties, rental homes and Perth Amboy real estate are located west of New York City, north of Raritan Bay.  Perth Amboy’s predominant neighbor, however, is Woodbridge Township at the New Jersey crossroads.

With the feel of a small town, Woodridge Township offers great business and residential opportunities, and substantial waterfront properties for business, industry, and recreationists. It surrounds Perth Amboy NJ real estate on the north and west.  Both communities are part of Middlesex County but prices for homes in Perth Amboy are more affordable.

As the oldest township in New Jersey, Woodbridge real estate tells legendary stories of important figures in the settlement of America.  Captain John Pike, Thomas Bloomfield, John Bishop, Samuel Moore, Nathaniel Webster and a host of other Woodbridge citizens are committed to the memories of our nation’s school children.  Settled in 1664, the Woodbridge area was incorporated 134 years later in 1798.

Today, over 100,000 residents call Woodridge Township home.  Most of the population is clustered in cities with 15,000 to 20,000 residents such as Avenel, Colonia, Fords, Iselin, and Woodbridge.  These communities offer thriving downtown business and shopping areas.  Other small communities include Port Reading, Sewaren, Hopelawn, Keasbey, and Menlo Park Terrace.Woodbridge Township spans 24 square miles.  Its southeastern edges are two-thirds waterways.

The Colonial charm anchors corporate office towers and highways and main travel routes.  Woodbridge offers quiet, tree-lined neighborhoods, local schools within a short walk and a responsive government focused on the needs of those who choose to live, work, establish businesses and play in our community.

Designated commercial business Redevelopment/Rehabilitation Zones and Live/Work/Play communities add a modern efficiency to the area.  Environmental initiatives such as the “Greenable Woodbridge” program incentivize sustainable manufacturing and businesses.  The Greater Woodbridge Metro Chamber of Commerce and the Woodbridge Economic Development Corporation (WEDCO) can introduce commercial opportunities that exist throughout the “Ten Towns” of Woodbridge Township. In 2010, the median household income is approximately $80,000.

Main transportation routes include trains through Metropark, Avenel, and Woodbridge.  U.S. Routes 1 and 9 and the Edison Bridge on Route 9 cross the Raritan River and connect to Sayreville on the south.  Other roadways include Garden State Parkway, the New Jersey Turnpike (I-95), and Routes 27, 35, 184, and 440.

Families are served by the Woodbridge Township School District.  The District operates three high schools and feeder schools, some which achieved the highest ratings in the state.

Integrating 2011 Designs into Perth Amboy Homes

One of the trends in Perth Amboy NJ real estate today is buying down and remodeling.  Many Perth Amboy homeowners are choosing to stay put instead of moving up to larger homes in Perth Amboy, South Amboy or other New Jersey communities in Middlesex County.

To sustain and gain on resale value, Perth Amboy property owners and investors in Perth Amboy real estate should pay attention to applicable design trends to create style while minimizing costs or sustain the ability to recoup costs upon resale.

Remodeling of kitchens and bathrooms always tends to be the more worthy investment in a home’s value.  The cost of these remodels, unless eccentric or lavish, can normally be recouped upon the sale of the properties, especially in desirable neighborhoods.  Re-doing small bathrooms is one of the least expensive ways to upgrade homes.

Let us look at the work of a hundred designers from the National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA) have to say about their latest approach to design.  Based on a survey of their design choices during last fall, we get a picture of what homeowners across North America want in kitchen and bath design.

According to Margaret Morgan of newjerseynewsroom.com, there are seven new kitchen trends and four for bathrooms.  For the kitchen, it’s 1) shaker-style cabinets, 2) maple cabinets, 3) dark natural finishes, 4) fewer add-ons like wine refrigerators and cupboard racks, 5) granite and quartz countertops, 6) neutral beiges and grays versus colors and whites, and 7) trash organization and compactors.

Bathroom trends include 1) quartz countertops, 2) vessel sinks, 3) green, whites and off-whites, beiges and browns, and 4) faucet emphasis of satin nickel, bronze or oil-rubbed bronze and polished chrome or nickel.

Quality, professional work in these and other areas of the home enhance the appeal.  Other hot trends presented by Realtor Magazine may not require full remodels:  decorative lighting, outdoor living, recycled features or artwork, energy efficient appliances, his and hers amenities, car lifts to gain space, double-paneled windows and large windows, wood trim throughout home, mirrors, and stations for electronics.

By popular demand, new home design is getting smaller and more efficient.  Wasted space is disappearing and other greener elements like ceiling fans are appearing.  Buyers are asking for separate laundry rooms and organized closets.

Historic Perth Amboy NJ Homes and Real Estate

Perth Amboy NJ Real EstateReal Estate in Perth Amboy, New Jersey’s “City by the Bay,” reflects the neighborhoods of many immigrants that left their imprint over the past three centuries.  Perth Amboy is in Middlesex County.  Style and architecture of Perth Amboy homes vary.  Prices are very moderate, and the area offers many opportunities to find fixer-uppers.  In fact, Perth Amboy NJ real estate is being slowly redeveloped with new projects such as the mixed-use townhomes and mid-rise condo development in Landings at Harborside.

Petra Realty provides full-spectrum real estate services including listings for Perth Amboy properties, Perth Amboy homes for sale, and Perth Amboy NJ commercial real estate in neighborhoods ranging from The Waterfront to Downtown to Harbortown, Hall Avenue, State Street, Amboy Avenue, Maurer, Chickentown, and Spa Springs.  In addition, our management services offer Perth Amboy apartments for rent and Perth Amboy house rentals.

One of The Amboys, Perth Amboy is associated with South Amboy, a community accessible by rail across the Raritan Bay.  The Amboys are at the northern limit of an area referred to as the Bayshore.  Other bordering communities include to the east, New York City’s Staten Island across the Arthur Kill, to the north and west, Woodridge, and to the southwest, Sayreville across the Raritan River.

New Jersey Waterfront HomesApproximately 50,000 residents enjoy living in the community today.  From settlement in the late 1693 through the city’s incorporation in 1718 and into the industrial age of the 1800s, historic Perth Amboy has lived many lives.  She served as the colonial capital for 90 years and was the capital of East Jersey for 18 years.  The Proprietary House and other historic buildings stand in witness of William Franklin, last royal governor of New Jersey and Ben Franklin’s son.

Noted as the only place in the United States without radon, the community sits on solid clay.  Historic factories such as Sons Terra Cotta and A. Hall and other industrial developments fueled a thriving economy in their day.  With waterfront properties and quaint shops and restaurants, the community became a resort town in the 19th and early 20th centuries.  After the shuttering of some factories and the toll of heavy immigration, the community is quietly rebuilding itself.  Its charming homes and manicured streets embody the rich heritage of a city in the midst of revival.
